چکیده

Horner’s syndrome is a triad of miosis, ptosis and enophthalmos commonly associated with vasodilatation (facial flashing), anhydrosis and nasal stuffiness. Horner’s syndrome has been reported following several regional anaesthetic techniques, including brachial plexus block and thoracic and lumbar epidural anesthesia. Several cases have been reported in obstetric patients using bupivacaine and ropivacaine epidurally but there are no reports of Horner’s syndrome following spinal injection of a local anesthetic in the obstetric setting. Moreover we could not find any data in the available literature (MEDLINE) regarding the occurrence of Horner’s syndrome after subarachnoid injection of ropivacaine for cesarean section. We report a case in which a patient developed Horner’s syndrome after the subarachnoid injection of ropivacaine as a single agent for cesarean section.

Hyperbaric spinal anesthesia with ropivacaine coadministered with sufentanil for cesarean delivery: a dose-response study.

Adjuvant sufentanil could achieve effective spinal anesthesia with low dose of hyperbaric ropivacaine for cesarean delivery. Two previous studies had calculated the 50% effective dose (ED50) of intrathecal ropivacaine coadministered with sufentanil for cesarean delivery. However, the 95% effective dose (ED95) of intrathecal hyperbaric ropivacaine coadministered with sufentanil for cesarean deli...

The Dose-response of Intrathecal Ropivacaine Co-administered with Sufentanil for Cesarean Delivery under Combined Spinal-epidural Anesthesia in Patients with Scarred Uterus

BACKGROUND Spinal anesthesia is considered as a reasonable anesthetic option in lower abdominal and lower limb surgery. This study was to determine the dose-response of intrathecal ropivacaine in patients with scarred uterus undergoing cesarean delivery under combined spinal-epidural anesthesia. METHODS Seventy-five patients with scarred uterus undergoing elective cesarean delivery under comb...

Low-dose combined spinal-epidural anesthesia for cesarean delivery: a comparison of three plain local anesthetics.

The new local anesthetics have been poorly studied for intrathecal use during Cesarean section surely in low doses and in combination with an opioid substance. The purpose of the present study was to compare bupivacaine and the newer local anesthetics in equipotent doses. During the induction of combined spinal-epidural anesthesia, 91 elective Cesarean section patients were randomly assigned to...

ED50 of intrathecal ropivacaine for cesarean section under prophylactic infusion of phenylephrine

BACKGROUND Studies have reported that prophylactic continuous infusion of phenylephrine during spinal anesthesia for cesarean section can decrease the spread of local anesthetics. We investigated the ED50 of intrathecal hyperbaric ropivacaine in parturient women undergoing cesarean section under prophylactic infusion of phenylephrine. METHODS Sixty parturient women were allocated into 2 group...

Minimum effective local anesthetic dose of intrathecal hyperbaric ropivacaine and bupivacaine for cesarean section.

BACKGROUND Intrathecal anesthesia is commonly used for cesarean section. Bupivacaine and ropivacaine have all been used as intrathecal drugs. The minimum effective local anesthetic dose (MLAD) of intrathecal ropivacaine for non-obstetric patients has been reported. However, few data are available on the MLAD of hyperbaric ropivacaine for obstetric patients and the relative potency to bupivacain...
